Welcome Dear Colleague It is a great pleasure for the Nordic Orthopaedic Federation and the organising committee to invite you to participate in the 55th NOF Congress, which takes place in Aarhus, Denmark, 5-7 May, 2010. We have completed the review process and have accepted 150 abstracts for oral presentation and 40 for poster presentation. Six abstracts have been selected for best paper award and six for best poster award. The quality of the scientific and social programme is very high and at the same time we have reduced the congress fee significantly. The scientific programme will cover a variety of different topics. Internationally renown experts have accepted our invitation to give lectures. Furthermore, we are planning sessions with education and training of Young Doctors. The organisation committee cordially invites everybody with interest in orthopaedic surgery, including researchers, scientists, and those working with education and clinical training. Doctors and nurses from other specialities are welcome as well. We hope you will enrich the congress by participating and sharing with us your latest knowledge and experiences, thereby contributing to a rewarding congress. Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark with a population of approximately 300,000. The culture is lively and young, mainly due to the city's large student population (approx. 20,000). Aarhus is an old city but still young at heart! The city was founded by the Vikings as an open trading post at the mouth of the river. Aarhus is an educational and cultural centre, and its very soul is a charming blend, combining the atmospheres of a beautiful town and an active city, which will make you feel welcome and at home. Scattered around the city you will find many restaurants, bars and cafes, many of which are located at the river and suited for all kinds of budgets. Aarhus is really an interesting city and offers many attractions - such as the open-air museum “The Old Town”, Marselisborg Castle, Queen Margrethe II's summer residence and Moesgaard Museum. Discover its delights for yourself. Most things are within walking distance and the city of Aarhus is the place where every wish can be fulfilled in fascinating and inspiring surroundings. Ideally situated in its bay, fringed by beaches, forests and lush scenery, yet bustling with life, Aarhus offers an inspiring setting for the Congress. We look forward to welcoming you to Aarhus. Yours sincerely The organising committee Kjeld Søballe President |
